Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation
When it comes to foundations for me, i don't always grab the Matte texture as it can cling onto my dry areas. And being 48 it can also sometimes make me look more older, and not be so flattering on my skin. I do have Combo to dry skin just to let you know.
I went to Target recently and came across the NEW Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation. Seeing the word hydrating caught my attention, as well as reading on the back they describe it as a Gel mousse. I do have the Fit Me dewy smooth and the Super Stay better skin foundation from Maybelline, and both have worked really great for me i like them.
The price i paid for this 1oz was $8.95 not to bad for drugstore considering some of them are getting up in price. It Comes in 12 shades , i got mine in Classic Ivory. My first experience i used my fingers, applied it all over and right away i was noticing it was attaching to my dry patch areas. My first impression i wasn't liking it already, it was to matte for my liking. It was settling in all the little lines my acne scars and all those area's i have. It did make me look older i felt, and wasn't the fresh look i am more prone to now and love.
The lasting of the foundation seemed to be about 4 to 5 hours so it does seem to last a good while on, and for me i didn't have or notice any need for powder to set my foundation like i usually do. I did use Fergie" take on the day" powder at the very end to set everything in place, i didn't feel i had to touch up at all after the 4 to 5 hours neither. So it does handle the part in lasting i felt, i decided i wanted to try a makeup brush next to see how it worked.
When i used the brush i had the samething as i did with fingers, nothing changed as it catching onto dry areas , lines and acne scars. So ok we tried those two, i know there is a sponge applicator on a stick type form you can buy for this product. So maybe using a makeup sponge will work much better than fingers and brush?
So i ended up using my Soho makeup sponge i have , pouncing it all over on my face. And... it did apply much better, but still had some area's that were dry it attached to and still made me look old looking. But i do feel this foundation does and would work better with the sponge you can purchase for it, or any makeup sponge you have. I would feel it does work better for someone who has oily to combo to oily skin, more than someone like me with combo to dry or someone who has dry skin. I wouldn't recommended to them, and point to the Fite Me or the Super Stay foundations from Maybelline.
Over all disappointed and didn't like the product, i wanted to and had hopes for it being it was more of a Gel Mousse and had claimed for hydrating. But just didn't work for me at all. Below is a picture of me wearing it on the first day i applied with finger's , also i will included a video i did on the foundation as well as other couple reviews that i did.
Anyone else try this foundation? What are your thoughts? And did it work for you?
